New Job!!

Today I am thankful that I have a new job!! I've missed working and am really excited to be starting with a great bunch of people!

I'm also thankful to be loved, cared for, hugged, snuggled, kissed, and that I have people in my world who want to make MY life better, because I do the same for them. xxx

I had a weird experience in line at a store with a guy who was obviously not doing very well. He was still wearing his hospital bracelet, had some really awful tattoos (including his name done across all 10 of his fingers and back again - from one side to the other) and was showing me where he had branded himself (literally). It was very sad, and it just made me realize that I am L-U-C-K-Y!!!

Thanks to all of you who love me, I love you too. Ooodles!! :)

Music and mouvement

Today I am thankful that I can hear music and that my body can move (mostly) to it. I have always loved music, singing, and dancing. I'm not always superskilled, but I really enjoy it!

I really miss it when my brain hurts too much to listen to music. I like all kinds of music, and find that my mood can be really affected by what I'm listening to. Right now, it's some Allison Krauss, Eva Cassidy, Brandi Carlile... Feeling like singing my heart out to some amazing songstresses!!

Today is Martin Luthur King Jr. Day. It's a pensive, sad, happy, emotional and also triumphant day! It is a day to give thanks.

Today I am thankful for Martin Luthur King Jr. It is hard for me to imagine that there would be a world where such discrimination exists. A world considered 'civilized', yet clearly so 'primitive'. Yes, I realize the possible derogatory pun you may read into that previous comment, but it is not intended as such. It is intended to raise your ire, as it raises mine to think of a world where skin colour somehow indicated intelligence and competence. Thank you, Dr. King, for showing the world that it does not.

Discrimination still exists, make no mistake about it. We are mostly viewed as equals based on sex, colour and religion... but we still have a ways to go in other areas.

Thanks to all of you devoted, fearless people who forged the way for so many freedoms. I am lucky to live in such an amazing place, but I do realize that 100 years ago I wouldn't have been voting or considered a person either...
